Aaron Kai Makes an Impact on Hawaiʻi Island Youth Through Art and Aloha

Born and raised in Hilo, Hawaiʻi, Aaron Kai makes waves through his artwork and positive vibes throughout his hometown community. Now based in California, Kai uses his home state to influence much of the post-pop art we see on murals, canvases, and clothing. Waiākea Water’s Kōkua Initiative partnered with Aaron to distribute over 450 art kits to the keiki at Hilo Union Elementary School.aaronkwithywcakeikiThe art kits included a small canvas, markers, crayons, a watercolor paint set, coloring books, reading books and of course our delicious water!  Aaron created a painting with the art supplies in the kit and donated it to the school.  You can see it in the school library. He also partnered with keiki from the YWCA preschool and students from Nā Wai Ola PCS, who assisted him in painting a mural in downtown Hilo. “What a wonderful opportunity for our keiki to have time and mentorship with such a patient and kind muralist from our home town of Hilo”, says Geoli Ng, Director of the Kokua Initiative. “He even spent one-on-one time with each individual student from the YWCA preschool, coaching and encouraging them to paint their portion of a collaborative art piece”.  We are also fortunate  to have Aaron’s artwork throughout the halls of our bottling plant location.  If you come for a tour of our facility, remember to capture a selfie in-front of the classic Aaron Kai mural!
