Marcus Mariota

Marcus Mariota was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended St. Louis High School in Honolulu, where he was a two-sport athlete in football and track. Following high school, Marcus played college football at the University of Oregon. In 2014, Marcus became the first Oregon Duck to win the Heisman Trophy. Mariota was drafted second overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2015 NFL Draft.

While playing for the Tennessee Titans, Marcus Mariota went through a season ending MCL injury. While recovering, he was able to focus on what he can control and spent the bulk of his time with his foundation and helping others. “At the end of the day, God puts us through trials and tribulations to allow us to relate to others so we can lend a helping hand,” he said.

Through his Motiv8 Foundation (Motiv8), Marcus focuses on creating positive change in the communities that are important to him, including Hawaii, Oregon, and Atlanta. Over the past few years, Motiv8 has also led initiatives to support underserved youth and homelessness in Las Vegas and Tennessee (cities in which he has lived and worked).
With his move to Atlanta in May 2022, Marcus and Motiv8 have already provided furnishings to Atlanta’s Children Center, supported a flag football team with back-to- school supplies, and will host 300 youth at the Falcons vs Panthers game in Atlanta on October 30th in partnership with the Boys and Girls Club of Atlanta and the Shaquille O’Neal Foundation.
